Jewelry Care

To minimize scratches on your fine jewelry, store all pieces separately. You can keep them either in the original box, a pouch, or in separate compartments in a jewelry box or drawer. Do not wear your jewelry to sleep at night, as sheets and clothing can pull and wear on it without you even knowing it. It is also highly advisable to use your discretion about wearing your jewelry in the shower, pool, hot tub, and sauna or during intense physical activities (such as at the gym). You will want to avoid exposure to any harsh chemicals like household cleansers and those found in pools and hot tubs. Have your jewelry inspected at least once a year by a reputable jeweler to check for wear and tear on the prongs, clasps and movable parts of your items

For care at home, use a soft bristled brush with a mild soap and warm water to gently clean your jewelry if needed. Jewelers have several jewelry care products available for purchase and can always advise you on your best options.

Ultrasonic cleaners are a great way to keep your items looking as good as new. They are available for consumer purchase, although most jewelry stores provide this and other services for free. It is still advisable to consult your jeweler for advice on ultrasonic usage as there are many common gemstones (such as opal, pearl, emerald, & tanzanite) that can be damaged if placed in an ultrasonic device for even a short time.

When in doubt, your jeweler will be happy to advise you on proper jewelry care no matter what the item.
